Community Engineering

Many communities and districts find that hiring a consulting engineer to serve in a supporting role to the City Engineer or Town Manager is both economical and more effective than using additional internal staffing. Indeed, some communities have no in-house engineer and rely on consultants for all of their technical needs. As a consulting firm NIES is able to bring the expertise of many individuals and the experience of numerous clients to bear on the challenges faced. In instances requiring multiple disciplines we can deliver specialized expertise on short notice. NIES Engineering provides routine engineering advise to Towns, Cities, Plan Commissions, Sanitary Districts, Water Boards, Conservancy Districts and other agencies. This service is particularly effective in handling smaller routine tasks: a flooded alleyway; a high service pump that appears to be down on power; a malfunctioning lift station; a quick survey to assist a potential developer. Resolving these challenges is often an inefficient use of in-house resources and difficult to effectively handle with a traditional RFQ/Proposal format. Having a cost effective community engineer on hand to deal with these issues allows the community workforce to be more effective at what they do best - and maximize the community's efficiency.
