1.0 Million Gallon Elevated Storage Tank - Village of Streamwood, IL

The Village of Streamwood had recently seen a large expansion in a newly annexed area on the southwest side of town. The Village officials realized that a need existed to construct a new elevated storage tank to help meet the water demands of the increased population in that area.

NIES Engineering is currently performing construction inspection services for the foundation portion of the elevated tank. Approximately 238 cubic yards of concrete were placed for the foundation footing in less than 8 hours using concrete conveyor apparatus.

During the design phase NIES Engineering worked as a sub-consultant to Dixon Engineering. We developed a site plan, tank and piping plans, and electrical plans that enabled the Village to bid the project as two separate alternates based on either a steel or composite steel and concrete elevated tank.

This optional bid format benefited the Village by allowing them to select the most cost-effective type of structure to meet the needs of the water distribution system in this area.
